The JCCWRP and the Chicago Police Department have been working together on projects to protect and maintain the stability of our community. One facet of the joint project is our educating community members about what they can do to make a difference. The plan will delineate the issues we are now confronting, as well as suggestions as how to combat them. We ask that every community member consider the following suggestions:
- Call 911. Many will only do so only for a life and death emergency. Any criminal or suspicious activity should immediately be directed to 911.
- Call 311. Residents should direct non-emergency issues to city services so that they can be addressed in a timely manner. Such services include graffiti, tree brances obstructing lamp posts, street flooding, garbage/glass removal, and malfunctioning street lights.
- Attend your CAPS meeting. One of the most successful programs in city policing history, CAPS gives you an opportunity to express your concerns to the police that patrol your street. Your attendance is crucial to maintaining a secure and healthy neighborhood.
